2 or more players per part recommended, but possible for a sextet with stamina!

The final rag published in Joplin’s lifetime. Some consider the work shows the composer beginning to experiment with new ideas within the genre – potential that sadly went unrealised.

Serenata Veneziana – Kéler Béla

Flute, Oboe, 4 Clarinets, Bassoon/Bass Clarinet, plus optional add-on easier parts.

2 players per part recommended.

A charming piece by this 19th Century Hungarian composer whose light works were extremely popular in his time.

The Skye Boat Song – Traditional

Flute, Oboe, 3 Clarinets in B-flat, Bassoon/Bass Clarinet and Horn in E-flat or F – plus optional easier ‘add-on’ parts.

An intermediate-level woodwind arrangement of this favourite Scottish melody, featuring Horn in E-flat or F. The tune may be familiar to some as the theme from Outlander.

Little Brown Jug/Jimmy Crack Corn

Flute, Flute/Oboe, Clarinet, Low Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Bassoon/Bass Clarinet – plus various optional add-on parts, including some for common brass.

Works well with 1 – 2 players (or more) per part.

Cheerful, catchy and well-known tunes – ideal for a woodwind ensemble that includes alto saxophones, or for a small school-style wind band.

The Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave) – Mendelssohn

2 Flutes, Oboe, 3 Clarinets, Clarinet/Alto Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bassoon, plus optional add-on ‘easier’ parts

2 players (or more) per part recommended.

Great fun to attempt, regardless of whether your ensemble is likely to manage the work up to ‘performance standard’.

The Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave) – Mendelssohn

Arranged for saxophone orchestra with parts for Sopranino, Soprano, 3 Altos, 2 Tenors, Baritone & Bass Saxophone, plus optional add-on Contrabass.

2+ players per part recommended.

Also included are ‘easier’ parts for less-experienced Alto or Tenor Saxophone players.
